    Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium Names Chanceé Lundy as Executive Director

    Nationwide — The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium (Southern Black Ladies) proudly pronounces the appointment of Chanceé Lundy as its new Government Director. A distinguished environmental engineer, entrepreneur, and social justice advocate, Lundy brings many years of management expertise to a company devoted to empowering Black women and girls throughout the South.

    Based in 2017, Southern Black Ladies channels assets to underfunded Black women-led organizations that empower Black women and girls in 13 Southern states. The consortium has awarded over $10.2 million to greater than 220 Black woman and women-led organizations and empowered over 800 women with microgrants totaling almost $500,000 since its inception. Lundy’s appointment indicators a daring step ahead in increasing the group’s affect, sustainability, and dedication to investing in Black women and girls.

    “Chanceé embodies every part our group stands for – imaginative and prescient, resilience, and a deep dedication to uplifting Black women and girls,” stated LaTosha Brown, Visionary Founder. “Once I first met Chanceé as a bright-eyed 14-year-old, I glimpsed a spark that has since blazed into a strong drive for change. As a founding father of Southern Black Ladies and Girls’s Consortium, I’m profoundly assured she is going to elevate our imaginative and prescient to extraordinary heights. I’m blessed to name her my mentee, and now, with immense satisfaction, my chief.” Lundy’s relationship with Brown started in 1995 when Brown was working with a youth activism and social justice group in Selma, Alabama.

    For Lundy, main Southern Black Ladies represents a full-circle second in her journey. Rising up in Selma, Alabama, she instantly benefited from the kind of neighborhood organizations that Southern Black Ladies now fund. “I’m honored to steer a company that’s remodeling the panorama for Black women and girls throughout the South,” stated Lundy. “My very own life trajectory was without end modified by neighborhood organizations that invested in me as a younger Black woman in Selma. These applications gave me entry to alternatives, mentorship, the arrogance to pursue a profession in engineering, and the social consciousness to grasp systemic injustices and combat in opposition to techniques of oppression.”

    In 2024, Lundy was invited by the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia to interact with Colombian leaders, activists, youth, and girls entrepreneurs to debate shared challenges round local weather change, fairness, and financial empowerment. “Whether or not within the US South or South America, communities of shade face related systemic obstacles that demand each grassroots motion and institutional help,” Lundy mirrored. She has persistently demonstrated her dedication to offering transformative experiences for Black women and girls within the South.

    She based Vacation spot Liberation to boost cross-cultural connections and studying for Black women by means of journey within the African Diaspora. She additionally co-designed Harvard College’s Energy, Innovation, and Management program to spice up Southern ladies leaders’ effectiveness and penned the anthology “It’s Simply Excessive College” to help women in navigating adolescence. These initiatives underscore her deep dedication to empowering Black women and girls.

    Lundy additionally brings a wealth of enterprise expertise to her new position. She co-owned an engineering and planning agency, Nspiregreen, LLC, for over eleven years earlier than promoting it in 2020. She has served because the Nationwide Chair of the Nationwide Society of Black Engineers and because the Nationwide Co-Chair of Black Youth Vote. Her accomplishments have been acknowledged by Ebony Journal, which named her one of many “30 Leaders of the Future,” and US Black Engineer, which included her among the many “High 100 Most Essential Blacks in Expertise,” and she or he has been acknowledged with a day in her hometown known as “Chanceé Lundy Day.”

    Lundy holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Alabama A&M College and a Grasp of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida State College. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Included.

    Southern Black Ladies and Girls’s Consortium (SBGWC) has been dedicated to channeling larger assets to underfunded Black women-led organizations throughout the South. Based in 2017 by LaTosha Brown, Felecia Fortunate, and Alice Eason Jenkins, the Consortium operates in in 13 southern states, and employs a participatory grantmaking strategy that facilities Black women’ voices and experiences whereas supporting racial justice, training, well being and wellness, financial mobility, and management improvement.
