“You Don’t Know The Form I’m In”
Jake Lenderman performs and data beneath the title MJ Lenderman. He put out his first album in 2019. Along with his solo work, he’s been a member of the band Wednesday, and he’s additionally featured on the Waxahatchee hit tune “Right Back to It.” In September 2024, the fourth MJ Lenderman album got here out. It’s referred to as Manning Fireworks. The New Yorker named it the best album of the year, and Stereogum, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork all put it of their high ten. For this episode, I talked to Jake about one of many songs from that album, referred to as “You Don’t Know the Shape I’m In.” The tune itself took form in just a few other ways. Developing, you’ll hear the way in which the tune began as a demo, after which how that bought fleshed out, after which the way it bought rebuilt, after which how Jake fully reimagined the entire thing.
