There’s the majestic silence and emotional echo once you sit in entrance of a bunch of Rothko’s. It is documented and written about at giant, and I’ve had that feeling so many instances together with his works, simply this type of monolithic echo of life coming from the colour subject works. I acquired that very same feeling this weekend sitting within the Agnes Martin Gallery in Taos on the Harwood Museum of Artwork in entrance of Martin’s works, all surrounding me, creating this quiet hum of the land, the echo of nature, the facility of a vortex within the setting. I’ve sat in entrance of a bunch of Heidi Hahn’s work earlier than, they usually, too, resonate with this unmistakable sound, the figures motioning towards a rupture between figuration and abstraction, they themselves close to shade subject and with their huge scale, nearly depicting the enormity of nature. Her new solo present, NOT YOUR WOMAN, on view at Kohn Gallery in LA, the facility of fracture, the resilience of time, the haunting nature of portray to scale itself, is all right here, and that quiet echo of the eras coalesce in her works. They’re profound and recent. —Evan Pricco
