In one of many early and main highlights of 2025, the Barbican Artwork Gallery in London is presenting a retrospective on the sensible works of the late Noah Davis. It’s the debut displaying of this presentation of Davis’ work.
From the gallery: “Based in Los Angeles, Noah Davis created a physique of figurative work that explores a spread of Black life.
“Motivated by the need to ‘symbolize the individuals round me’, Davis painted figures diving into swimming pools, sleeping, dancing, and artwork in scenes that may be each real looking and dreamlike, joyful and melancholic. Davis drew from nameless images, private archives, movie, artwork historical past and his creativeness to create a ravishing physique of labor. Usually enigmatic, his work reveal a deep feeling for humanity and the emotional textures of the on a regular basis.
