Yossi Milo is happy to announce Sarah Anne Johnson’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, A Mountain and a Forest, within the Weast gallery and viewing room. The present will likely be on view via Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Sarah Anne Johnson explores the pure world via sensation and notion, and facilities depictions of those inner experiences in a multimedia report throughout various sequence that span images, video, and sculpture. In A Mountain and a Forest, Johnson continues to innovate on the method of her ongoing sequence Woodland, through which the artist alters images of the wilderness via digital shade, oil paint, metallic leaf, and holographic tape, amongst different media. Via these invented hues and textures, Johnson interprets her marvel on the panorama into the visible realm and creates artworks that seize greater than what will be seen via the digital camera alone.
A Mountain and a Forest presents two new our bodies of labor by Johnson: Cedar Forest, a vibrant sequence that grows out of Woodland; and Mountain, which presents altered images of a remembered wilderness tour in hand-sculpted frames. Collectively, these sequence find humanity’s place inside Johnson’s imaginative and prescient of the North American wilderness and pay homage to the splendor of Canada’s Western frontier.
