    Galerie LJ presents Grief Embodies Infinite Colours (A Coroner’s Spouse), the primary solo exhibition in Paris by Spanish-American artist Luján Pérez (a Juxtapoz favourite and a part of our 30th anniversary show last year), exploring the multifaceted nature of grief via a brand new physique of works on wooden and paper.

    Grief Embodies Infinite Colours displays the artist’s deep curiosity in mortality and loss. Over the previous 4 years, private experiences have profoundly formed her perspective on loss of life and mourning. Married to a funeral director, Luján Pérez has developed an intimate understanding of the rituals and feelings surrounding loss of life, which permeate her newest physique of labor.
    Her creations are intentionally monochromatic: she firmly believes that black-and-white imagery permits viewers to attach extra deeply with the essence of an expertise, free from the cultural associations tied to particular colours. This strategy emphasizes the universality of grief, transcending particular person origins and uniting humanity throughout cultures.

    On this exhibition, Luján Pérez presents a sequence of works impressed by private encounters, historic artwork references, and literary allusions to grief and loss of life. Every bit is a visible narrative conveying the complicated feelings related to loss with out veering into melodrama.

    Luján Pérez’s works have been exhibited in quite a few reveals, together with in New York (the place she is represented by Swivel Gallery), throughout the USA, in addition to in Madrid, Seoul, Athens, and Paris. Her distinctive mixture of mediums—her works being concurrently wall sculptures, engraved work, and cut-out prints—units her aside within the modern artwork scene.
