Sehiri’s last film, “Beneath the Fig Timber,” carried out in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight in 2022, and was chosen to characterize Tunisia on the 2023 Academy Awards.
“Promised Sky” follows Marie, an Ivorian pastor and former journalist, who has lived in Tunisia for 10 years. Her residence turns right into a refuge for Naney, a youthful mother trying to find a better future, and Jolie, a strong-willed pupil carrying her family’s hopes.
