With Clinging Knots, our buddy and contributing editor Charles Moore has curated Shanee Roe’s first solo exhibition at 68projects in Berlin.
Stripping away idealisation to disclose the uncooked, unfiltered human expertise, on this exhibition Shanee Roe guides us by the complexities of intimacy. Playful but unsettling, her figures exist in states of vulnerability—uncovered, clumsy, fragmented. The physique is neither glorified nor hid however introduced in its most trustworthy fleshy type, inviting a confrontation with our personal perceptions of magnificence, need, and discomfort. By means of ambiguity and rigidity, Roe challenges the romanticised narratives we assemble round intimacy, opening house for questions on how we expertise sexual need and connection. In these moments of softness and disruption, we’re requested to see, to really feel, and to acknowledge the messy, tender actuality of being human.
