“Downpour is one thing that occurs, all of the sudden, quick and really unexpectedly,” Jonathan Lyndon Chase says. “I see this very a lot as how the idea of change or transformation behaves in our each day lives.”

Jonathan Lyndon Chase’s work is a vivacious exploration of id. In his previous works, there was a singular capability to blur boundaries between figuration and abstraction, deftly bringing forth the intimate and sometimes unseen layers of human existence. In Downpour, at Sadie Coles in London, Chase is being his most daring, his characters like superheroes of their world, finally forging a vibrant testomony to the frequently evolving narrative of up to date Black artwork, but additionally comedian e book and narrative artwork. With each brushstroke, Chase crafts a world each expansive and intricately detailed, affirming the artwork of storytelling in its most dynamic kind. —Evan Pricco
